Bush Passes Retroactive Immunity
For Representatives Who Vote Against Impeachment
President Bush signed into law today an act that would prevent congressional representatives from prosecution for not impeaching the President. “Consitutionally, congress is compelled to impeach me” explained the President. “But when fighting for America’s values, sometimes the constitution has to take a back seat”.
When asked why they had not tried to block the policy, a coalition of democratic representatives offered a joint statement. “Seriously, we gave up years ago. This isn’t politics anymore, it’s performance art. Just sit back, grab some popcorn and watch the show”.
President Bush said that while he understood many citizens’ concerns, unchecked, unmarked power was necessary “to win the fight against tyranny.”
